Abstract     The article discusses nurses' quality of life in Slovenia, with emphasis on their usage of spare time and specially cultural goods. Presumingly, overworked nurses don't have adequate options to spend their free time due to changeable working schedules. The lack of discussion about this topic worldwide (that includes Slovenia as well), makes this extensive survey, made by Nurses Organization of Ljubljana even more interesting. The second half of the article presents a part of research project "Nurses in Slovenia" which refers to the usage of cultural goods, as a possibility of individual personal growth. Mentioned topics relate to keeping up with everyday cultural and other events, by reading newspapers and periodicals, watching TV, listening to the radio, reading literary writings and visiting cultural events. Results of the survey, performed on a randomised sample of nurses in Slovenia, showed differences among nurses with different education levels. With regard to mainly female population and hierarchical mutual relations in healthcare, the features of the nurses' cultural lifestyle are distinctively feminine. The nurses' usage of cultural goods is surprisingly higher than the average of the whole Slovenian population.
