Abstract     Enalapril toxicity for different laboratory animal species was studied in preclinical trials. Acute toxicity studies were carried out in kice and rats after oral and intraperitoneal administration, and in dogs after oral administration. Subacute toxicity (90 days) after oral administration was studied in rats. In acute toxicity studies enalapril exhibits relatively low toxicity. Only at high dose levels influence on the gastrointestinal tract was found. In acute toxicity studies in dogs and in subacute toxicity study in rats pathomorphological injuries in single organs were found, only with doses, which were several times higher than therapeutic doses.
