Abstract     In prehospital setting the cause of unconsciousness is hard to be recognised. With the technical limitations out of the hospital, some causes can be neither confirmed nor ruled out, even when we think of them. The good heteroanamnestic data are the only way to find the cause of unconsciousness in the absence of specific clinical signs and clues in the patient's environment. Unfortunately the heteroanamnestic data often offers more confusion than help. In cases like this, it is far more important to stabilize the patient, supervise his vital functions, and get him (or her) urgently to the hospital, where the cause of coma can be established and treated. Endless hunting for final diagnosis in prehospital setting can be lifethreating for some patients. This case shows that simptomatic therapy and urgent transportation to the hospital is life saving.
