Abstract | Acute severe asthma remains a serious and debilitating disease throughout the world. It is a potentially life - threathening condition which sometimes can progress in minutes to an asphyxic situation and a cardiorespiratory arrest. In the article we wanted to present complications of acute severe asthma, the initial threatment and specific management in a patient with cardiac arrest due to asthma. We also presented the Ketamine as an adjunctive therapy in acute severe asthma in part due to its bronchodilating effects as a smooth muscle relaxant. A case report presents the succesful management of cardiorespiratory arrest in young male with acute severe asthma and use of ketamine as bronchodilator. | |
