Abstract     In the present time spreading of Emergency Medical Service (EMS in continuation) in Maribor and all over in Slovenia it is necessary to have corresponding trained specialists. First step at raising educational structure of employed in EMS in Maribor has began with employment of emergency medical doctors (EMD) and medical tehnician on every other areas of work. Now, we are expecting the next step. Regarding to nature of work we have to overcome educational gaps between doctor and medical tehnician. We have employed: 2 registered nurses (RN), 2 regularly employed medical tehnicians are ending outstanding study, 5 regularly employed medical tehnicians will probably end their study after two years. With ten RN in EMS Maribor (17 % employed), which will in present circumstantes improve professionally chain. We are expecting spreading of the Emergency Centre in the folloving years, because it's now in first phase of development. Necessity for RN's will increase. RN will be in EMS confrotated with similar problems as now medical tehni cian. We want to devise labour and tasks, his dependent and independent function. Theoretically we can assume, RN will have in EMS greater independent function as medical tehnician, but they will both be still limitated by desicions for realization some of procedures and most of necessary emergency needing interventions by treatment of emergency conditions without presence of doctor. Education of RN and his continuated cultivation in emergency medicine give base for increase independent function for desicion and realizations of emergency necessary procedures and interventions in prehospital treatment of emergency conditions, when there is no option for EMDs. In long term plan we foresee employment RNs in three chronologically interdependent steps.
