Abstract		This is a review of the role of nutrient availabillity disorders in certain models of cancer chemotherapy. In the preliminary studies there is a lot of attempts to change tumor glycolysis by enzyme inhibition and therefore the rate of tumor growth. Recently there has been a great interest for the investigations of compounds which could enhance the antitumor effects of physical and chemical treatments without additional toxicity, such as lonidamine. Gluconeogenesis inhibition could represent simple and effective way in order to interrupt the process of cachexia. Possible role of metabolic inhibitors in the problem of cross-resistency of malignant cells to chemotherapy is considered.
