Abstract		Ageing of the skin is normal phenomen that cannot be prevented, but it can be slowed down. Cosmetic products try to slow down the ageing process by re-establishing a normal balance between regenerative and degeneratice changes. In order to protect the skin from ageing caused by environemntal factors, cosmetic products are added substances that are active in free radical scavenging and so prevent radical chain reaction - like antioxidants.Other important and frequent components of different cosmetic products include vitamins, alpha hydroxy acids, enzymes and cofactors.
