Abstract     From 1996 to 2000 the Special committee for traffic checked 1135 candidates for drivers license and drivers of I and II category. 92.2 % were men and 7.8 were women. Most of the observed population has a professional high school education (37,3%, followed by elementary school education (19,6% and high school education (18.1%). 55% of all observed members of cohort are employed, the percentage of unemployed is high (12.9), and high is also the percentage of retired members (27.0%). Among all observed population, 982 (86.5%) got drivers license with certain limitations because of health problems; 2.0% had no health limitations to get drivers license, 9.1 % did not get drivers license temporary because of health problems, 2.4% did not get divers license permanently because of health problems. The main cause of check ups were psychiatric diagnosis in 560 cases; among these 472 got drivers license with restriction becauseof health reasons. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters)
