Abstract		In Slovenia, data collection on accidents at work has got long tradition, it's possible to get data from the year 1948. Our data basis on behalf of reporting about accidents at work on the form called ER-8 has been going on since 1975. We are facing now with big changes in working style and in even in mechanisms of accidents at work, we have bigger knowledge about preventive activities and we have found out that data from the form ER-8 were out of time. On another hand our laws have changed and we have to harmonise our statistics an accidents at work with requirements of EUROSTAT. This were the main reasons to accede to the project of modernisation of statistics on accidents at work which is co-ordinated by Office for Safety and Health at Work. We asked our national institutions from the area of safety at work to cooperate in the project. We prepared new form for reporting on accidents at work with new codes and technical possibilities. We started to design new informational infrastructure. We hope that new form and new way of reporting on accidents at work will make this work easier for employers who will report with only one form to all national institutions. New form will give us better possibilities of comparing with other countries , to find groups of workers at highest risk, to find economic activities with biggest problems in the area and give as stabile basis for good preventive programmes in the area of safety and health at work.
