Abstract | A lot of organizations, and also hospitals, have already realized that for reaching their strategic goals they have to measure finance and some no finance capabilities that are important for their operating. For measuring these capabilities different methods and techniques are known, such as ratios, quality standards, benchmarking, self- assessment and balanced scorecard. In the article I tried to present the view of benchmarking in General Hospital Novo mesto and to give my contribution to forming a model of benchmarking that would be carried out in Slovene hospitals. This would enable us to define the quality of operating as the basic principle of business strategy and to reach in this way the perfection in as much fields of operating as possible and to measure our results by reaching the quality of services, by reliability and the amount of costs. Benchmarking shows us in which way the compared hospitals reach better (worse) results and at the same dme makes possible better cognition of the own organization. This, it gives us the opportunities for seeking new possibilities in the constant improving of operating of the organization. | |
