Abstract     From 1984 to 1990 a very contagious and unwelcome virus disease of domestic rabbits have spread over three continents: Asia, Europe, and Africa. The disease manifests itself by high mortality. The hemorrhagic disease, i.e. the syndrome of the European hare (E.B.H.S.) affects also hares and causes their death in Yugoslavia. The report contains essential general characteristics of the infection, as well as the characteristics in the epizootiology, clinical symptomatology, and diagnosis recorded in the first epizootics of the disease in Slovenia in 1989
