Abstract     A substantial number of road users are diabetes mellitus patients. Only professional drivers are subject to restrictions, as insulin-dependent diabetics are not seen as fit to perform this work. It is well known that hypoglycaemia in treated diabetic patients poses more risk to road users than hyperglycemias, thus it seems sensible to check biochemical parameters to determine the existence of hypoglycaemia in fatal traffic accidents where diabetes patients were involved, especially in cases where an overdose of medication, reduced food intake or increased physical activity is suspected. In this study, the values of HbAlc, glucose, lactate and combined values of glucose and lactate in vitreus humour were measured and evaluated to confirm the terminal hypoglycaemic state in a victim involved in a traffic accident.
