Abstract     Handling of new born babies with neonatal jaundice is described in this article. Neonatal jaundice represents one of the risk factors for athetoid and dystonic forms of cerebral palsy. Therefore the importance of preventing abnormal postural and moving patterns, which may greatly interfere with further successful habilitation, is pointed out. Proper handling is the way to success. The positive influence of adequate surrounding, proper raising and resting, proper prone and supine position, correct holding, nursing, diaper changing, feeding, carrying and transferring is described. The utmost important role of parents and their positive attitude towards proper handling as a key to successful further habilitation is accentuated.
