Abstract | The bronchoscopy which is the most frequently used invasive method in pneumology is presented. It is performed by either rigid or flexible bronchoscope. Today most of the bronchoscopies are performed by flexible bronchoscope. The paper deals with the role of the nurse in both rigid and flexible bronchoscopy. The nurse takes care for the patient prior to, during and after the procedure, she takes care for the bronchoscope and other instruments, adequate supply of the material and its transport to laboratory as well as for the medical and nursing documentation. Holistic accession to the patient is stressed. In co-operation with the patient, the nurse is aiming at his/her problems and needs related to the bronchoscopy. Only the adequate work of the nurse-in accordance with other members of the medical team-will make bronchoscopy less inconvenient for the patient. | |
