Abstract     The development of listening skills after a cochlear implantation is a process in which the functioning of the entire auditory system is assumed to be a pre-condition for successful use of the new ability. In cases of hereditary deafness the auditory system is namely not developed. Therefore, the rehabilitation processes should offer the best strategies for speech and language learning. Simultaneous use of various rehabilitation methods does not assure a progress towards this goal. I define the rehabilitation goal as an integration of listening into the child's personality. To attain this goal an optimum stimulation of the environment is necessary for the development of listening and language skills.
