Abstract     Sliear stress in the femoral ncck is an importaut parameter that iutluences thc development of the human hip. In our paper we present a simple. noninvasive method to compute the shear stress and we test the method ou an illustrative sample of four patients. The method is based ou Ihe mathematical model of the resultant hip force and on the computation of the stress tensor in a loaded beam. Results show that apar; from the resultant hip force and the neck width, the CCD angle bettveen the femoral neck aud diaphysis may be the most important factor to influence the shear stress magnitude. The method could be inproved by measuring the resultant hip force through other means.
