Abstract     There were 291 patients treated in the period 1999-2000 on 13 departments of surgery in Slovenia. Operative procedures were performed in 247 cases. In 74 cases potentially curative resection was performed (resectabilify rate 30%, in 128 cases paliative procedure, in 45 cases explorative laparotomy or laparoscopy. After paliative procedure postoperative mortality rate was 20 0%, after resection 16%. Among 200 new patients with pancreatic cancer in Slovenia yearly 3/4 were seen by surgeon. Resectability rate was relatively high, but also postoperative mortality after resection was higher than expected.
