Abstract     Bell's palsy is a sickness, mostly of viral etiology which affects the conductivity of the facial nerve. The majority of patients recover during three months after the onset. In minority of the patients the recovery could be prolonged and several long lasting disabilities could be present - an abnormal function, an unpleasant aesthetic view and communication problems. Physical therapy has a role in rehabilitation of patients with a more pronounced facial nerve injury. Only the patients, who after a period of 3 - 4 weeks don't improve their function, are directed to physical therapy. It is based on neuromuscular re-education and could be very prolonged. We use other procedures of physical therapy too, except the electrostimulation which show no beneficial effects or could be harmful.
