Abstract		In the paper we study an approach to the classification of Alzheimer patients based on the EEG signals. For this purpose we developed a method called AREX to extract important attributes out of EEG signals which serve as the input for clas- sification methods, like decision trees. We evaluate the classification results obtained with our AREX method for the induction of classification rules and compare them to a variety of other classification methods. The presented method shows very promis- ing results.
