Abstract     The main principle of the European charter on alcohol is that all people have the right that in their family, social and working g environment they are protected against accidents, violence and other negative consequences caused by alcohol. Uoes Slovenia have an adequate alcohol policy, which actually protects the health of the nation? Since the focus of our interest was what employers think about it, a research was conducted, which should give answers on the attitude towards alcohol and the state of being under the influence of alcohol as well as the addiction to alcohol, drugs and other psychoactive substances in the worlcing environment. lf the field of alcohol seems to be fairly regulated (more explicit in larger companies and working enviromnents with a lower average education structure), the field of drugs is almost completely unregulated, unknown and for many employers, according g to their own opinion, also not important. The results provide a contribution to creating a basis for the alcohol policy and at the same time a guideline to the authorised doctor for providing g dedicated activities of health promotion in the working environment.
