Abstract     The aim of the article was to find out the differences between elderly patients (over 65 years) who were admitted to rehabilitation after surgically treated hip fracture in 1985 and 2000. The differences in surgical treatment and rehabilitation outcome were also observed. Medical records of 164 patients from 1985 and 122 patients from 2000 were analyzed. It was found that the patients from year 2000 were older. Their surgical treatment was more optimal but their functional rehabilitation outcome was lower. It was predicted that in the future patients after hip fracture would be older. Despite good surgical and rehabilitation treatment they would have a poor functional status.
