Abstract		A questionnaire about gait and environment was sent to 100 subjects after hip fracture who had been rehabilitated at the Rehabilitation Institute one year before. It was found that the subjects living in rural areas faced more barriers in their environment. Most subjects walked only short distances. Many could not walk even to the nearest neighbour, shop or their general practitioner. Subjects after hip fracture are handicapped and their rehabilitation has to continue in the community.
