Abstract     In the cohort study for thurty-six months in which 318 females after PID episode, requiring hospitalization, and 416 females in control group, were monitored, it was attempted to establish what are conception rates in IUD users in comparison to other females. It was established that conception capacity of females to some extent influences their choice of contraceptive method, therefore only the results between the females using the same contraceptive method are totaly comparable. Among the groups of women using different contraceptive methods and those declaring themselves as nonusers, IUD users belong to groups with the highest cumulative rate of conception, those after PID as well as the IUD users in the control group. Compared with IUD users who had not suffered from PID, those who had it are more liable to have a lower cumulative conception rate. Among these, the females younger that 25 years are most exposed ones. Using case-control design, we tried to evaluate the significance of other risk factors for the occurrence of PID and subsequent infertility in IUD users as well as in the other groups of users and nonusers of contraception, in the women with and without PID. Compared with other females, the IUD users had a stable sexual life. They hadn't changed many sexual partners, before joininh the study the lasser percentage of them suffered from PID. The results of both parts of the study indicate that in comparison with other females IUD users are less exposed to the most relevant risk factors for the incidence of PID and subsequent infertility, which could be the most relevant risk factors for the incidence of PID and subsequent infertility, which could be the most important reason for the high cumulative rate of conception in these females. Besides, most of these females had already given birth and also had sexual intercourses more often that the others, which also makes the conception more likely.
