Abstract     The article presents the role of an architect and procedures for the overall planning of a new educational institution or school premises: - a dialog with initiators; establishing personal viewpoints relating to the project; - team discussion on the viewpoints of various experts - interdisciplinary approach; - knowledge of contemporary, similar solutions in other countries; - knowledge of professional guidelines such as spatial standards; recommendations regarding equipment, materials, functional connections; - co-ordination and adjusting; - ability and willingness to respond; - monitoring the premises after project completion and take over.
