Abstract     Physical development in first grade students, acceleration trend and differences between anthropometric standards and school furniture dimensions- i.e. school table and school chairs were analysed. 128 students from Agricultural and Dairy High School from Kranj (70 female and 58 male youths) with average age 16,1 were included in research. Anthropometric parameters which define sitting posture are introduced. Body parameters, directly affecting shape and height of school furniture, desk and chair are thoroughly analysed. Defined heights are (popliteal, knee and body height, height of thigh and crossed thigh height), lenghts (kaudal and cranial thigh lenght), bitrohanteric width and akimbo. All parameters are introduced in basic statistics and percentil values and compared with the existing international standard for school furniture ISO 5970. Analysed data clearly shows, that school furniture in the Slovenian high schools does not entirely satisfy de facto body proportions of youths, because classroms are equipped with one basic type of school furniture, so high school youths use too high or too low chairs and too high or too low desk.
