Abstract     Leadership is defined as the process by which an individual influences the behaviour of others. The basic presumption in sport and exercise is, that a coach, who is a good leader, has a vision, knows how to set goals and motivate his group or team and most of all, they are supporting athletes into achieving their personal goals. Coaches, teachers and other exercise specialists are leaders, who seek to ashore each participant maximum opportunities to achieve success. This study investigated the leadership styles of Slovene coaches, how they accede to leading individuals or team, and how they exert influence on them. We were also interested in their prevailing personal characteristics. We were looking at the differences between coaches according to gender, type of sport, the kind of athletes they have in a group, tlaeir coaching experiences and age.
Summary     Vodenje je proces, pri katerem ena oseba vpliva na vedenje ostalih. Osnovna predpostavka vodenja v športu je, da ima trener, ki je dober vodja, vizijo in ve, kako postaviti cilje, kako motivirati. Predvsem pomaga pri spreminjanju vizije v realnost. Trenerji, učitelji in drugi vaditelji so vodje, ki v vsakem človeku iščejo priložnosti, da bo uspel. Glavni namen raziskave je bil ugotoviti kakšni so stili vodenja slovenskih trenerjev, kako pristopijo k vodenju posameznikov ali ekipe ter na kakšne načine poskušajo vplivati nanje. Zanimalo nas je tudi, katere so prevladujoče osebnostne lastnosti trenerjev. Zanimale so nas predvsem razlike med trenerji glede na spol, vrsto športa, kakšne športnike vodijo in glede na njihove trenerske izkušnje oziroma starost.
