Abstract		Osteosynthesis with lag screws is one of the ankle fracture operative methods. In the study we analyzed ankle fracture treatment in the Department of Traumatology in General and Teaching Hospital Maribor in the years 1991 to 1993 and in the years 2000 to 2002. Purpose of the study was to determine the percentage of the ankle fracture fixation with lag screws and the trend of use of this method. In the years 1991 to 1993 we operated on 109 of 333 (32,7%) operatively treated patients with ankle fractures with the method of lag screws. Trend of use was diminishing from 47% to 25%. In the years 2000 to 2002 we operated on with this method 127 of 450 (28%) patients with a stabile trend of use (27% to 29%). There were no complications in the co-operative patients with correct indications.
