Abstract     The article presents some economic aspects of health and healing. 48% of the Slovenes use methods of alternative and unconventional medicine, while the corresponding share in the article gives the view of present situation in the world and in Slovenia the number of healers and the resources used for alternative and complementary healing methods. However, the national accounting data provide an insight. lf we take into account demographic and economic criteria, the comparison with the American study shows that the situation in Slovenia is similar to the situation in the USA in the beginning of 90s. Providing such services presents an opportunity for some additional income in nursing.
