Abstract     Theoretical foundations of homeopathy are introduced. It was founded 200 years ago by physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (17551843) and is based on the Law of Similars (similia similibus curentur). Provings are procedures, whereby the therapeutic potential of various substances is uncovered, which can then be used to choose the most appropriate (similar) homeopathic medicine to treat the sick. Potentising is serial dilution and shaking of the solution at each step, which increases the therapeutic effect of the solution. The theoretical foundation of homeopathy is S. Hahnemann's Organon of the Medical Art. A few clinical areas where homeopathy has much to offer are introduced.
