| Abstract | This article is a review of the hallucinogenic plants, of their habitat, chemical structure of compounds and pharmacological activity. Hallucinogens presented in the article are divided into chapters based on their chemical structure. Each chapter also contains the use of hallucinogens in traditional folk medicine as well as in mystic rituals. The chapter about the tropane alkaloids, which historically have been most used and abused, is described more precisely. | |
