Abstract     A newborn (and later, a baby) is totally dependant on the quality and potential of his mother š symbiotic partnership. In the first year this relationship changes from the initial infantile stage, for which the child's insatiability is typical, to a much more mature relationship, in which the mother becomes the object of love. A relatively successful twosome of mother-child (a satisfactory symbiosis) enables the development of a relatively healthy ego, which is able to respond with its psychological mechanisms to external, as well as internal irritants. Deprivation in the preverbal phase of development strongly increases the possibility of later reactions in the sense of resomatisation and also an inability to psychologically separate (from significant others) in the process of individuation. The first experience with other people is, for most the experience with members of their own family. Almost everyone has, and knows, their mother and father, or at least one of the two. The family, as a place for growing up (growth, development, maturity) and basic socialisation, can also be a foster family or a family in some "other" way- our thinking is not biased towards biological but interpersonal connections and influences. There are various types of family units, but all are the first interpersonal (social) environment into which a person is born (or placed, in the case of fostering and adoption) and which inevitably shapes him. Regardless of the type of family, within it we learn about trust and lack of trust, which can be directed towards all people or be tied to gender, to our experience with our mother, or father. Within the family we form our attitude towards punishment and being punished, to awards and to closeness, while numerous fears and convictions, which originate within the family, can make us unhappy throughout our lives.
