Abstract     A 3D reconstruction method of cellulosic fibres networks issued from laboratory M.D.F. panels (Medium Density Fibreboards) is proposed and validated. These panels are characterised, in terms of density or porosity, at microscopic scale (scale of fibre), mesoscopic scale (scale of fibres network) and macroscopic scale (scale of material). This method uses the image analysis tools derived from mathematical morphology. The grey level images obtained by confocal microscopy give 3D infonnation on the fibre network (size distributions, simulation). In order to reproduce a R.V.E. (Representative Volume Element), images with sizes ranging from lxl mm2 to 9x9 mmz have been reconstituted from adjacent basic images with size 1x1 mmz.
