Abstract     Whereas the Fourier transfonn is well suited to the study of stationary functions, the wavelet transform is appropriate to analyze functions whose statistical properties change with time and space. Wavelets are used in many fields such as signal or image processing and compression. The LIP (Logarithmic Image Processing) model is a mathematical framework, developed by M. Jourlin and J.C. Pinoli (Jourlin and Pinoli, 1996), dedicated to the representation and processing of nonlinear images. This model is not only mathematically well defined, but is also an effective model for representing images obtained by transmitted light, such as microscopic images. This paper proposes a new method of computing the wavelet transform using the LIP framework, to enable the use of the wavelet transform properties and fast algorithms with transmitted light images.
