Abstract     This paper outlines a computational method for tracking clouds from a time series geostationary satellites images. An image distance, using a logarithmic method of comparison, and two weighting coefficients are applied to find the ancestors and successor.s of each cloud. Finally, the results for a big convective cluster is presented and their validity is tested by studying the spatiotemporal discontinuity of the clouds path with a time series of 96 METEOSAT images.
