Abstract     The nature of materials often makes proving theoretical advances in materials science more difficult. To exclude any unpredictable features testing can be simplified by simulating a fracture surface in a three dimensional structure. Random fracture surfaces were simulated based upon the Poissondistribution. The up-to-date VRML2 technique was used to create and visualize virtual fracture surfaces in three dimensions.
