Abstract     An image processing method for the estimation of the relative thermal properties of a thermal bridge between two homogeneous layers by infrared thermography is proposed. 1t consists in exciting one layer with a heat flux step and recording and analysing the temperature field response on the opposite face, by infrared camera. The processing of the sequence of images of temperature must be related to a 3D transient heat transfer model. The complete analytical solution of the direct problem can be conveniently obtained with a Fourier transfonn following space variables (quadrupoles method). A suitable linear approximated solution of direct transient 3D model allows to implement a linear least square estimation method from the Fourier transform of the images at each time step.
