Abstract     Orthodontic anomalies have been found in an average of about 65 %of preschool children while the percentage of articulatory impairements is obout 30 %. In the present study on a sample of 78 kindergarden children aged 6 years the speech and orthodontic status was determined. Orthodontic and articulatory impairements were present as follows: rotacizam 64,1, lamdacizam 52, 9, sigmatizam 58,1, 32 friction 40,2; normal 10, 3; primar compression 25,6, early teeth loosing, 17,9, close bite 15,4, open bite 12, 8, cross bite 6,4, progenia complex 6,4, median diastema 2,6, normal 12,8. Depending upon the degree of the impairment it was shown that speech and orthodontic impairments represent two significantly different spaces (x = 28, 8, df = 9, p < 0.01 J. Though it is supposed that these imapirements in the process of maturation will disappear spontaneously, the need for the early speech and orthodontic theraphy is pointed out.
