Abstract		The purpose of the supervision of hospital hygiene in nursing at the University Medical Centre (UMC) Ljubljana in the years 2001 and 2002 was to evaluate the quality of nosocomial infection prevention. The supervision carried out in 19 hospital wards. It was attended by two assistants to the head nurse, responsible for education and training and for infection control, and by specialists and nurses specialized in intensive care, as well as those specialized in infection control. The results were obtained from one morningshift observation and from a questionnaire comprising 200 questions, of which 80 referred to the methods of nosocomial infection prevention established
