Abstract     The article deals with the significance and role of occupation in the treatment of clients with mental and developmental disorders. The first part presents play, as the child is occupied with it for most of his early development period. Work on the personal computer is one of the accessible occupations helping_ develop a positive self-image, opening up a way to success, improving self-confidence and self-dependence (playing games, writing letters...). Clients interested in a different type of occupation, for example snoezelen offering opportunities to get familiar with new stimulations and activities, come to day care. Clients like to spend their spare time in groups, which provides them with different occupational possibilities.
