Abstract | In the development and therapeutic work with handicapped persons an increasingly important issue is to encourage the process of self-actualization efficiently running right through all creative artistic occupations. Creative process in different artistic mediums, as are dance movement therapy, art therapy and music therapy, contribute to the activation, rehabilitation, personal integration and socialization of handicapped persons. Art, developing through occupation, is the highest expression of human consciousness, which as the expression alone, and also through its action upon consciousness, transcends the conscious to act upon the unconscious, organizing the consciousness into a new frame within which it structures the unconscious. Art is the most complex picture of consciousness, a mechanism through which objects from reality, through a process of catharsis in human consciousness, create consciousness alone. Catharsis is a complex transformation of feelings, differing from the usual release of psychological emotional energy, namely, the question is of a postponed reaction facilitated by artistic creation. This way of relaxation distinguishes itself from the usual feelings in that beside the feelings it also starts the process of intense imagination. | |
