Abstract     Sepsis is systemic infection with clinical signs of systemic inflammatory response (SIRS) and with signs of disturbed tissue perfusion. The incidence of sepsis is increasing. Mortality of patients with sepsis despite all improvements in treatment remains high, Sepsis inflict more or less every organ in the body. Organs can be affected primary and represent the origin of infection, they can also be infected as a part of septic syndrome with signs of tissue hypoperfusion and other pathophysiological mechanisms. Taking samples and starting empirical antibiotic treatment as soon as possible has a major impact on patient's prognosis.
