Abstract     The main characteristics of a human nutrition in industrial coutries are high content of energy rich constituets; excess of fat salt and carbohydrates and lack of fruits, vegetables, dietary fibers and fullgrain constituents. That kind of nutrition contributes to the development of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. For the prevention of this ilnesses, a protective dietary measures are recommended. Our nutrition should include foods with benefitial effect on the level of serum lipids. This article presents some recent facts concerning selected foods and their influence on the concentration of serum lipids.
Summary     Prehrana sodobnega človeka je energijsko bogata, vsebuje preveč maščob, soli in belega sladkorja, premalo pa sadja, zelenjave, polnozrnatih škrobnih živil in prehranskih vlaknin. Takšna nezdrava prehrana pospešuje razvoj ateroskleroze in drugih bolezni srca in ožilja: Za preprečevanje omenjenih bolezni je priporočena zaščitna ali varovalna prehrana, kjer imajo izbrana živila v celodnevni prehrani ugoden vpliv na koncentracijo serumskih lipidov. V nadaljevanju bodo predstavljena novejša spoznanja o nekaterih živilih in njihovi učinki na koncentracijo serumskih lipidov.
