Abstract     The number of injured and ill children in the Slovene mountains is higher every year. The injuries are similar to those of adults; luckily, there are less severe accidents and casualties. There are frequent cases of a sudden illness, which prevents a child from continuing its way. The authors examined the ten-year analysis of Siovenian Mountain Rescuing Service rescue actions. In their account, they ascertain that the rescue actions are most often needed because of injuries; however, the number of other illnesses is increasing, as well. Among injuries are the most frequent the injuries of lower extremities. There are not many cases of severely injured children. The accidents were most often a consequence of falls or bad physical condition, and quite often a consequence of bad weather conditions. Many accidents occur in the surroundings of mountain huts, frequently they are a consequence of a children's play. A doctor frequently participated in the rescue actions. Children often need to be rescued in the mountains; however, they are many times in a more disadvantaged position than adults are. Because of the particularities of an injured and ill child, more education will be needed in this area in future.
