Abstract		Authors present a new colloid plasma expander HES 130/04, with superior pharmacokinetic properties than earlier HES solutions. It could be used in a larger daily dose (50-70 ml/kg/day), because of its higher 24-huor excretion rate. There are no significant influences on blood coagulation. There is a positive influence on immune stress response and microcirculation, which increases tissue oxygenation. As a plasma expander, it is indicated in traumatic hemorrhagic shock, for fiuid resuscitation in adults and according to some studies in children also. It is used in patients with severe head injury and in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular insult.
