Abstract		Acute poisonings are frequent reason for admission and treatment at emergency units. Life-threatening condition of patients, impaired consciousness and strongly diminished ability of selfcare are often presented. The main causes of acute poisonings are medicines, alcohol and drugs, of abuse. Nursing care is orientated towards safety assurance. The rewiew of acute poisonirtgs at Medical Emergency Unit in the year 2002 and the characteristics of nursing care are presented.
