Abstract		The author describes chronic asynergy of the left ventricle at rest due to chronic, painless, persistent severe myocardial ischemia. The reasons why this phenomenon is so attractive include a high incidence of hibernating myocardium in clinical practice, especially in syndromes of (un)stable angina pectoris and after myocardial infarction, as well as potential reversibility of the myocardium, if appropriate measures are undertaken. In the second part, the methods for detection and assement of the hibernating left ventricular region are described.
