Abstract     The paper is dealing with the influence of dihydroergotoxine on the passive avoidance behaviour in rats with bilateral electrolytic lesions of the nucleus basalis. The mentioned basal forebrain structure lesions result in deficit of the cognitive activities. Dihydroergotoxine administered intraperitoneally in doses of 4,9.10 power -9 mol.kg power -1 or 4,9.10 power -8 mol.kg power -1 improved passive avoidance in lesioned animals. In doses of 4,9.10 power -7 mol.kg power -1 or 4,9.10 power -6 mol.kg power -1 didn't change and in dose of 2,45.10 power -5 mol.kg power -1 impaired the avoidance ability in lesioned rats. The conclusion is that the effect of dihydroergotoxine is dose-dependent in this experimental model
