Abstract     Since it was introduced into clinical practice thirty years ago until today wholebody gallium imaging has been useful and cost-efficient diagnostic tool. It providesa key data about diagnose, therapy and prognosis of neoplasms. It has a well-defined role in staging and monitoring the response to therapy in malignant lymphomas. The use of higher injected doses of 67Ga, improved gamma camera with three phpton peak acquisition and introduction of SPECT imaging technique have led to marked improvements in results and renewed its utility in the last decade. Comparison between planar and SPECT imaging indicates the importance of SPECT in management of patients with malignant lymphomas, specially to follow the effect of treatment. SPECT has the ability to depict small foci of tumor tissue, which are not seen on planar imaging. Lymphomas are malignant neoplasms characterized by the proliferation of cells native to lymphoid tissues. This includes cellular elements such as lymphocytes, histiocytes and their precursors and derivatives. It is a wide group of diseases, in which Hodgkin's disease is segregated from all other forms, which are labeled non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. They account for 2% of all adult cancers whit their incidence going up. Hodgkin"s lymphoma is histologically characterized by the presence of ReedSternberg cells. It has good prognosis the goal of first therapy is complete remission.
Summary     Od uvedbe v klinično prakso pred tridesetimi leti do danes, je scntigrafija cetega telesa z 67Ga ostala učinkovita in cenovno primerna diagnostična metoda. Daje ključne podatke pri diagnosticiranju, zdravljenju in prognozi onkoloških bolezni. Ima vodilno mesto pri ugotavljanju razširjenosti in ocenjevanju uspešnosti zdravljenja pri malignih limfomih. Uporaba višjih odmerkov 67Ga, izboljšava gama kamere z večpulznim analizatorjem in rutinsko izvajanje tomografije, je vodilo do boljših rezultatov in oživilo zanimanje zanjo v zadnjem desetletju. Primerjava med planarnim in tomografskim slikanjem prsnega koša kaže na nujnost uporabe tomografije pri vodenju pacientov z malignimi limfomi. To je še posebej očitno pri kontrolnih scintigrafijah z 67Ga rned in po zdravljenju, oz. pri ocenjevanju uspešnosti zdravljenja. Tomografija z veliko natančnostjo prikaže majhna žarišča tumorskega tkiva, ki jih na planarnem posnetku ni videti. Maligni limfomi so izraz neoplastične transformacije celic, ki so primarno prisotne v limfoidnih tkivih. To vključuje elemente kot so limfociti, histociti ter njhove matične in hčerinske celice. To je velika skupina bolezni, od katerih je ločen Hodgkinov limfom in ki so označeni kot ne-Hodgkinavi limfomi. Zajemajo 2% vseh karcinomov odraslih, njihova incidenca še narašča. Za Hodgkinov limfom je značilna prisotnost Reed-Sternbergovih celic. Ima dobro prognozo; cilj prvega zdravljenja je ozdravitev.
